I built my AR with a Del-Ton upper and there was a problem with the ejection port door, so they sent me a new one. How do I replace it? Does the little ring come off the long rod that it hinges on? Do I need to take off my FF handguard and slide it out towards the front? Thanks for your help!! |
Yes, you can get the ring off, w/a tiny set of needle nose pliers. It's getting yhe damned thing back on wfter you do the switch that's going to drive you crazy. You will lose at least two of the damned c clips on the floor so stock up on spares before you start. My most recent experience was in losing the one on the piece originally, plus the two spares I had, plus one of the six extrras I had to order from Brownells. Finally got the second of the new barch on it. ![]() I've changed covers three times in the past few years, and each time I do, I swear that next time I'll pull the barrel, and do it the way the factory intended us to. ![]() By the way, if you've got a forward assist upper, the pin will hit the underside of the hump on the way out, and you'll need some finger pressure downward on it to keep it from gouging the hump. |

I have MI FF 2-piece hand guards. Do you think I could get enough clearance if I just take off the hand guards, or will the barrel nut still get in the way? I figured I'd ask first since I don't want to go through all the touble of taking them off if not needed. |
