Alright, I know you like to brag. It is time to, once again, have on of the BIY forum's famous cheap build threads. So, tell us what you have, and how much it cost. Post a picture or two! Remember, include the TOTAL cost...shipping, taxes, FFL fees, etc. Well, I'll start, and will add pictures tonight. Superior Arms Lower with a COLT 6520 upper. 1. Superior Arms lower ($80 plus taxes) 2. Green furniture (CAR style stock) (gunshow pick-ups ($30) 3. Colt 6520 Complete upper ($300 at gunshop +tax) 4. DPMS Lower Parts Kit ($44 + 1/3 of shipping from Brownells) Total with freight, taxes, and misc: $489.00 Next build: 1. EAGLE ARMS/CAVALRY ARMS lower ($130 at gunshop) 2. DPMS Lower Parts Kit ($44 plus 1/3 shipping from Brownells) 3. Bushmaster complete C7 HBAR carbine upper ($250 at gunshow) 4. Carbine buffer and spring (9.00 at gunshow) Total with freight, taxes, etc: $444.50 |
No one here is gonna admit their build is cheep!

For the quality of parts I ended up with, it was my cheapest build. Superior arms lower with LPK: $125 Complete upper off the EE (it ended up being a colt A2 M4 Upper, colt bolt & carrier, colt double heat shield handguards and Bushmaster 14.5 in barrel with a perm. vortex): $350 Stock: $40 Total: $515

Superior Arms Lower from Gunbroker - $90 shipped no transfer fee LPK from Gunbroker.com (before I realized I would use a kit) - $55 shipped 6 position stock from Cheaperthandirt.com - $30 shipped (with other items) Blackthorne M4 Kit - $410 shipped (sold LPK for $55 on Gunbroker.com and 6 position stock for $40 locally) C Products Mag - $0 (I bought 20 for $9.99 plus $7.95 from Copesdist.com and sold them for $15 each then bought my mags). Total - $490 Added a quadrail later for $50, a LED light for $5 (at 7-eleven), a Barska Red Dot Halographic for $30, phantom muzzle brake for $25 and an airsoft grippod for $25 (on eBay). Sold forend for $25 and birdcage muzzle brake for $15. Sorry don't have the capability to load pictures. |
