I have a Model 1 24" Tactical upper I bought from them this last spring. The barrel is CL and fluted. Shoots consistant 1/2 to 3/4 moa groups with the supposedly garbage UltraMax 52 gr HP ammo out to 300 yds, which is the fathest I've been able to shoot so far. Model 1 Sales has improved in quality of components and CS in the past year or so. I own several Model 1 uppers and have never had any problems running their gear.I recently purchased a J&T upper and would give them a look as well. Roughly the same price. From my experience I would go with a 20" barrel. That extra 4" is a real bitch believe me. You wouldn't think so until you get one in your hands -- rig -- plane and then you realize how looooooooonnnnnnnnnnnngggggggg it really is. |

Yes they did match. I used a Double Star lower for this build. Model 1 Sales uses RRA and LAR uppers if I'm not mistaken and are black (or as close to black as your going to get) in color. Let me say it's not the Holy Grail Colt, but all of the M1S uppers I've bought worked extremely well. Same goes for the J&T uppers - great stuff and no problems. I ran one of my M1S upper equipt AR's thru a 2 day carbine coarse with zip for problems. I bought the upper and kit and it came with one of the best, if not the best staked bolt carriers I've ever laid eyes on -- very nice. But then again I don't drink the Kool-Aid, as the only AR15 I ever had fail was a Colt and it was a disasterous failure. I'm lucky to have my eye sight (always wear shooting glasses) but I did come out of it with a 2" scar on my forehead. Hope this helps. |

My dad picked up a 24" SS free floated varmint barrel awhile back, based on my positive experience with a 20" full rifle kit of the same config. He's been pleased with it,and has had no complaints. It doesn't group as well as his T/C Encore .223 (around .5" at 100yds with the best loads),but it keeps decent loads around 1.5" or less or so at 100yds. |
