Hello all,

I am sending my LMT lower off for engraving in preparation for my tax stamp and eventual SBR. I wanted to remove the receiver extension so it could be sent in a smaller box, but my castle nut wrench would not fit on the castle nut.

THe lower was bought new from LMT complete with SOPMOD. Is there such thing as a mil-spec nut and a commercial nut. I have used this wrench on other castle nuts with no problem?????

Thanks

Do you have the old one tit spanner wrench, or the new style 3 tit wrench??

I have the newer 3 prong style.

What makes it even more of a mystery is I just added a SOPMOD to a KAC SR-25 and everything worked fine.

Do you need to remove the receiver extension for the engraving?  If not I'd leave it.  Boxes are cheap, and the shipping weight won't change much.  Not to mention when you get the lower back you have to reinstall the the tube.  I'd trust LMT's install over mine any day, YMMV.

Is the nut outside diameter too big for the wrench, or is it a matter of the slots on the nut being off so that the wrench won't fit them??

The castle nuts were identical in slots and diameter for both mil spec and commercial tubes me.  Had to heat one a little to loosen it.

All my LMT castle nuts have been staked which made it even more of a bitch.
