I'm currently finishing up my third upper. The first two went together so easy it was scary! Now I ran into some major problems trying to install the gas tube on my latest build, an 11.5" shorty. The previous two went right into the FSB with just a little wiggle and steady pressure. Pop in the pin and I was GTG...now this shorty is absolutely refusing to go in easy! Anybody have any tricks to try to get this recalcitrant tube to make nice with my fixed FSB? This one has got me scratching my head.

Determine the correct size drill bit (sightly larger than the OD of the gas tube) and run it in to the FSB to "chase" the hole.  When the roll pin hole was drilled, it may have left a burr inside that is preventing you from fully inserting the gas tube.

Make sure the end cap hole lines up with the gas tube hole in the FSB
