| My question is, does anyone make an upper that does not have forward assist or a brass deflector? Looking for something plain and simple but all I can find is old A1 style uppers, can I buy them new anywhere? |

Not too many other than the A1 uppers. DPMS makes one, but the rail is not the same height as a standard flattop. Fulton Armory has a side cocking upper that has no deflector or forward assist. I am not sure of the height on the flattop though. You could probably ask them about the rail height on it. Here is their pic:  ETA: that one above mine is a great looking upper too. It says extra thick, so I am not sure if it adds any weight of not, but it looks great. |

I've used two of the Les Baer uppers for two builds so far. No complaints at all. Good stuff. |

Do you want a flat top or one with a fixed carry handle? DPMS makes a flat top type upper without the brass deflector or FWD assist. I believe Nodak Spud makes a slick sided A1 upper. I could be wrong though. ETA: I Googled it. They have some slick side uppers. (It says limited qtys). Link Scroll to the bottom. |
