[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Changing an Upper

I bought a RRA Pro-Series TASC that has the A2 handle and a surefire M85 medium forend rail system. I want a flat top for an optic and had thought about simply buying a new complete upper. Then I thought about simply putting on a new upper. Is this something only a professional gunsmith should do? Any info that would help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Greg
