Just finished up my first build and want to make sure I have the gas tube aligned correctly. After I installed the barrel, delta ring and gas tube I took the bolt carrier and with light pressure slide it all the way forward. I was able to hear when the gas key engaged the gas tube but it engaged smoothly without sticking, hanging up, or the need to push harder. I shot 100 rounds though it and notice a slight bit of shine on the left side of the gas tube. Does it sound like I'm good to go or does it need to be tweaked at all?

Oh and I did verify that the barrel nut is not tightened against the tube. Its aligned center of the opening on the upper receiver and does have a little bit of play left and right.

Thanks for the help guys!

I usually insert the carrier alone into the upper receiver and tip the receiver up letting the carrier ride forward. If it slides on it’s own past the gas tube then it’s good to go.

If you think your gas tube is not being pressed against by the barrel nut, but there’s still some slight contact, you can lightly tweak the gas tube with a screw driver or similar object.

Thanks QUIB! I also used the stripped bolt carrier when testing. If I point the barrel down slightly gravity alone will case the gas key to fully engage the gas tube.
