I want to get a couple of lower recievers before they get "restricted" again. I want one for an AR-15 and the other for a CAR-15. I was looking for suggestions on the best ones to get. All I know is that DPMS and Bushmaster are good. Also there isn't really a reason that a standard lower will not work with a collapsible stock is there? Thanks, Ron |
I'd like to know more about this as well. Would Noveske make the list? What receivers have the safe/fire markings using "bullets" in white/red? I know POF has them but it appears no one has any in stock. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks Tom |
Yes Noveske would be fine. I was just thinking of manufacturers off the top of my head, and forgot Noveske. Spike's Tactical has bullet marked lower receivers. |

I have an LRB that I'm slowly working on. As this is my first build, I don't really have any experience in comparing with others. HOWEVER, the lower is manufactured by JV Precision which also makes the Double Star. It is a low shelf receiver as well. LRB now has uppers to match. The quality, fit, and finish on my lower when I got it was outstanding. It's mil-spec, but not Teflon coated like a MEGA. I used a Stag LPK and everything went together fine. I highly recommend this lower. I don't know why this lower doesn't get more attention than it does. The price is right and it has a cool rollmark, IMO. These are the same folks that make the forged/CNC machined M1A receivers. From their website"Our new semi auto LRB ARMS M15SA lower receiver is made from aircraft grade 7075-T6 aluminum forgings, same as currently used by the US military. The forgings are CNC machined on the same state of the art equipment which manufactures our M14SA receivers, with tolerances held to one thousandth of an inch. Finish is a hard coat anodize per MIL-A-8625. Our receivers accept all mil-spec internal parts, and are compatable with all other aftermarket mil-spec upper receivers. Oh yes...it's 100% made in America. STRIPPED RECEIVER..................$109.95 STRIPPED FLATTOP....................$89.95 STRIPPED RECEIVER AND LOWER PARTS KIT..........................................$179.95" If you get one, I don't think you will be disappointed. |

i have 2 of there lowers. acutally i have had them for a couple years. i just finished a build with one but havent shot it. the other gets sbr paper work in the mail tomorrow. i bought them from members having good things to say about them 2 yrs ago. i doubt much has changed. the price is right. |
I have a wilson combat upper and it's f'kn DIVINE. Wish they weren't on the black list in Ca, I'd love to match it up |
Don't spend to much time worrying about this. Just about any forged lower is fine. The differences between them are all subtle and pretty much meaningless. That said, having used a number of different lowers, I would say that CMT milled lowers are my favorite for the very clean milling and generally tight lockup. CMT mills a number of the lowers out there, "RRA" lowers being my favorite as I like the logo and "name brand" aspect of them. I liked them a lot more back when they sold for ~$100 . Stag lowers are pretty much the same except for the ugly logo but at $30-$50 less money, maybe I could learn to like the logo Really, with so many good options, I would just look around and find which ever one you like the best or which ever one you can buy the cheapest depending on which one of those criteria is more important to you? The way I look at it is, so what if the lower you want is $30 more then some other option. You are going to use it to build a rifle worth anywhere from $700 to well over $2k so what's an extra $30 or whatever to get the one you really want? |
+1 for Denny's GTS lower. |

DPMS I have has a tight mag well and the lines inside the magwell are not as sharp and defined as other lowers I have. I think DPMS lowers are cheap and out of spec! So goes for the rest of thier stuff. I am only speaking from experience. One of my favorite recievers is actually an Eagle Arms made by Armalite on the same machines that they make thier Armalite marked lowers. Also Sabre Defence makes nice lowers ans barrels and everything else they offer! |
Agree. Spending more than 100 to 130 for a lower (depending on your state/transfer costs) is a WASTE. High dollar lowers are simply fashion statements for the vain. |
Of course there is, we just had the incident in Cleveland, so obviously we need to ban all assault rifles to make the kids safe. ![]() ETA: I have 2 Superior Arms lowers. Not the greatest finish, but they get the job done for around $90 each |

For my first build I need a lower with "multi" cal markings. I have a Ko-tonics 16" 6.8spc combat edition upper with a Young Mfg bolt carrier, and I'm looking at the Ameetec lowers. Anyone have any experiences with the Ameteec? I would like a Mega but everyone has hoarded them, so thats not an option right now. I know any 5.56 would do the job, but it would bug me to do a fresh build with a non matching upper caliber. Any other Ideas for "Multi" cal marked lowers to go with my Ko-tonics upper ,I have marked off the POF because they are too pricey, and I'd rather put the extra money towards more ammo to shoothy.gif |
It's old enough to be in the archive, but go to the Az. Hometown forum and search for Ameteec. A word of warning, get a comfy chair, popcorn and some good beer. It's going be a long read. |
I have two just like you want. They came from Spike's Tactical.. THey came to my FFL in a Stag box so I guess thats who actually makes them. They are also marked "Multi" BTW |

I am looking to use the CMMG or the Lauer Lower... I like the logos on them and it seems that that is really the only thing that matters. I was told that the finish on the CMMG isnt the mil-spec so it wont match very well with a quality upper. Also what is with the option on the Superior Lowers regarding the 2nd threaded hole to tune the trigger? Thanks Brandon |
It came down to plain thievery on ameetecs part. In a nutshell someone came up with an idea for an AR lower in .45acp that used cheap mags, sent it to ameetec to eval with a deal they would manufactor the lowers. Ameetec reniged on the deal, and converted his prototype reciever to a registered post 86 auto reciever so they wouldnt have to even send him his prototype back ![]() I fucking hate thieves |
