Here's my M4gery.

I used a DPMS upper, lower and LPK. DPMS Chrome Lined 1:7/14.7" BBL with permanently attached phantom FH, DPMS bolt w/"tweaked" (added o-ring) extractor, Ergo Grip, YHM FF, UTG FG, T6 with CAA saddle stock, SPOT MkIII red dot, DPMS Mangonel BUIS, and a DIY 3-point sling using the How-To from here.

I'm waiting for my flashlight and then it'll be done.

It'll keep my M14, 1897 12ga. and Springfield 1911A1 company as the AK's were monopolizing my safe.http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/8498/ar15001lg7.jpg

Looks almost like mine.. I like it. What light are you going to use? I used a Javelin 125w because of the battery life and the beam (spot and flood type)

Ultrafire P4 with a CREE "bulb". Its cranks out pure white light (125lumens) and it's pretty damn solid.

Thats how bright the Javelin is... Im guessing its pretty solid also... The bezel is made to break tempered glass. I dont think Ill try that test until I HAVE to..lol

It looks very nice.

WHy the 14.7" barrel, though, if you still pinned a Phantom?  14.7" barrels usually cost more, and the only reason to use them that I knew of was so you could pin an A2 for the "real deal" M4 look and still get 16+" length.

I happened to find the barrel, FH, upper and rail already assembled along with the BCG for a good price, so I bought it that way.haps

Nice build.  I've got a 5C2 pinned on a 14.5" barrel...looks about the same.

Nice looking build.

It looks like you were building with a budget in mind, I am very interested in reading about how it performs.

Yep, I wanted to build something DECENT without getting crazy and buying the Gucci of AR parts, or going the other way and buying cheap junk. People may turn their noses up at my VFG or my budget optic, but they work.

"VFG" - What is that?  And Panthers are great!  I actually chose mine over a Bushmaster - not because of price but because the DPMS looked to be a better quality rifle (especially finish wise!).  After 5000 rounds she has never let me down and is damn accurate!

Yes, and I happen to think the UTG grips like that are the nicest ones going.  Mine locks up very tight on my rail, and feels better than the more expensive ones I've tried (and then sold off).

I wasn't meaning to say your barrel looked odd at all - looks great to me.  I can't see the .2" difference between it and a 14.5" M4 at all.  I was just wondering why you'd pay extra to get that extra .2" then not need it, but I see why now.

How do you like that CAA stock?

The CAA saddle stock give a much nicer cheek weld, than without it.

I got the Magpul CTR stock but I wish I got the CAA instead.  It has more utility (sling mounting options, and storage compartments) for the same money.  The Magpul commercial cost me $112 and it didn't even come with the sling swivel - it's sold separately for $30! And isn't CAA an Israeli military contractor?

Yes.  At least some of their stuff is in use by the IDF.  I can't confirm they have a real contract, though.  Check out Mako Security - they make some really cool stuff.  It looks like improvements to the CAA gear.
