I have been lurking and reading for a while... before posting this question, I was hoping to find my answer via a search... the answer may be here and I don't yet know enough to know I've found it!! hopingHaving a little trouble finding much in a selection of .308 parts... but I'll find them.. The first obvious question I have is the lower receiver... I do not see lowers advertised in relation to caliber.. so, does a .308 mag require a matching .308 lower... or is a lower a lower? Any other suggestions are appreciated... Looking forward to learning the AR build process and screwing it up allong the way!! Chas., SC |

A .308 lower is VERY different than a standard (5.56) lower. Just look at the size difference between the two cartridges. I can't recommend a good source for .308 lowers... a lot of what you choose depends on what magazine system you want to choose (M1A, FAL, Stoner, etc..) If this is your first build, you may not want to jump right into a .308. - AG |
