I was under the impression that this was a fairly easy process, but I've been reading some things that make it seem like a bitch. I've removed and replaced front sight bases plenty, but I've never swapped one. The issue is that I have a fsb with no bayo lug and would like to swap it for one that does have one. So how involved is this? Just buy a new fsb and put it on like I'm putting on the old one? Thanks. Bill |

Since you've removed FSB's before, you may know how difficult it can be. The other issue you may have is that the two holes in the new FSB may not line up exactly with the holes in the barrel. Even from the same manufacturer, the holes are not drilled in the same spot every time. I've owned 3 Bushmaster barrels and none of them could share the same FSB without re-drilling the holes in the barrel. |
IIRC Adco charges abour $85 for the service, and I believe I saw Steve joke that that is to encourage people to just buy a new barrel and get it over with |
