Hello everyone. I am wanting to build an AR 15 from scratch (well, parts anyway). I am a college student so funds are tight and I was wanting to get quality parts one or two at a time but at this point I wouldn't know what to do with them once I had them. I already have two stripped lowers, two stocks, and one LPK and am going to use the guide on here for those, but can't seem to find anything about completely assembling the upper from a parts kit. Any help?

Speedinc, I have read that many times and it doesn't seem to say anywhere how to assemble an upper, it only talks about replacing a barrel and changing handguards on an already built upper. I am wanting to put each piece together, not buy something that is already built (wheres the fun in that?!) Thanks anyways.

Its cheaper to buy a complete upper receiver than a stripped one unless you plan on using Hard Chromed Forwand Assist and E-port Cover. Stripped A2s are tricky when it comes to the Rear sight Assy. Anyway you should buy a Military Tech Manual because every AR owner should have one. It has all the information you will need and they are not expensive. If you must assemble ALL the parts yourself, Buy a complete upper receiver and take it apart, then reassemble it.Note; I am saying "complete Upper Receiver, not Upper Assembly".

Ratfink57, thanks for the reply. I'll look into all of that and see what I come up with. Thanks!

If you're really on a budget you can't beat the A1 uppers someone is selling on the EE for a little over $200.

Putting on the barrel and handguards is pretty much all there is to building an upper, so everything you need is in that post.  Unless you plan on buying an upper without the port door and forward assist on, but there's no reason to do that (and the vast majority come with them on).
