Does anyone make a 1/7 twist 24 inch barrel?  I can't seem to find any at all that are quality.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

There are a few people here that make barrels.  I'm sure they can quote you something for your custom build.  Mind has gone blank as of the moment, so I can't recall who it was, but this is their website link

Many 24 inch barrels cut that fast are cut 1:7.7

However, for quality barrels, check out Krieger barrels,

Compass Lake (choice of Krieger, Douglas, Shilen)

Good luck!

Place I linked in my original post offers Shilen, Krieger, Douglas and some other barrels.

How 'bout a 26" barrel with 1/7" twist?

Just curious, but since most places offer 1/9 24 inchers, does the extra four inches serve to provide additional stabilization to the heavier projectile?  I'm looking for a longer barrel to shoot 75gr or higher out of at long distances.

I had the same question a few months ago when I wanted to build a 24" barrel with 1/9" twist.

The answers I got from many folks was "hit and miss".  Some guys had good luck with the slower twist and heavy bullets, some guys did not.  It seems that velocity and the actual bore diameter(seal between the bullet and barrel) come into play as well. The extra four inches is not a guarantee.

I had a phone conversation with John Holliger of WOA about this and his comments to me were, "1/9" twist ready doesn't do anything well".  His point was that I couldn't sit on the fence and expect to do it all.  If I want to shoot varmint bullets, go 1/12", and if I want to shoot heavy stuff, go 1/7".  Don't compromise with an average twist.

In my opinion, the safe bet for you would be to get at least a 1/8" twist if you plan to shoot the heavy stuff.

Does anyone have an opinion on Lothar Walther's 24" barrel?  It's available in a 1/7 twist, but I don't know if they have a known good or bad reputation in AR circles.

They have an awesome reputation. Buy with confidence.

Rumor has it LW supplies the barrels for LaRue's precision uppers.  Yes, it is only a rumor, but I'm convinced.
