As it stands, I have three AR15 receivers which I assembled the LPKs into.  No buttstocks yet, though... I need to take care of that...

Anyway, since I built the lowers entirely on my own, I'd kind of like to build the uppers.  However, I'm not 100% I-must-absolutely-build-these-uppers-myself.

What it's really going to come down to is price.

Price of tools isn't an issue.  I work at a local FFL and we have all the tools necessary to assemble it.  All I would need to acquire would be the parts.  There's some WONDERFUL instructions in this thread with pictures on how to do it, and I'm not anticipating any difficulty with those kinds of instructions at that level of detail.

So my question comes to this:

What kind of price break can I expect by buying the parts separately as opposed to buying the complete upper on its own, and if it varies by manufacturer, what manufacturer would you guys recommend?

Thanks guys!

About 15 to 30 bucks.

It doesnt take long to put a barrel in.......

Edit If you price out bushmaster parts it looks like you can save 60 to 80 by building yourself

Hmmm.... Well I did an exhaustive calculation of what it would cost me to acquire all the parts individually from RRA as opposed to simply ordering the complete upper and it costs about $70 more to build it yourself than to order it complete when comparing dealer prices to dealer prices.

Yeowch.

Guess I'll investigate Bushmaster now...

Anybody else know of any good suppliers for these parts, especially if they offer them in kits?

Where the price really starts to look awesome is when you buy used stuff off the EE.
