I'm planning to put together my first AR build.
These are the parts I have in mind:

RRA Upper
RRA Lower
Wilson 20" Chrome-Lined Barrel (from RRA)
RRA Lower Parts (NM 2 stage, ERGO grip)
LaRue Handguard (11" ?)
CAA Tactical Buttstock
RRA BCG and charging handle
GG&G flip front sight/gas block
GG&G MAD BUIS

And now the questions ...

1.  Is there anything (other than muzzle device & optics) that I have left out?

2.  I plan to order most of these parts from RRA.  If anyone has ordered from RRA recently, what is the wait time these days?  Is there a better place to order some of these parts?

3.  I think a compensator/muzzle brake would be more useful for me than a flash hider.  Can anyone recommend a good one that they have had experience with?  I like the look of the YHM Phantom Comp/Brake and the one LaRue has on their site looks like it works well.

4.  Is 11" the right length for the handguard?  It needs to end just before the FSB.

5.  Would this build achieve 1 MOA at 100yd?  I know that a chrome-lined barrel is supposed to be slightly less accurate than non-chrome.  Everthing else being equal, how much loss in accuracy could be expected with a 20" chrome barrel (1/4 MOA, 1/2 MOA...)?

6.  I've narrowed down my optics choice to either Trijicon 4x32 (TA31RCOA4) or Leupold Mark 4 MR/T (2.5-8x36) w/ Illuminated Reticle.  Based on experience which would you suggest?  I'll be using the rifle mostly for target shooting/plinking and the occational hunt for varmints or hogs.  Could you achieve a high level of accuracy out to 200+ yards with the 4x Trijicon?

Well, thats probably enough for one post.  Any other tips and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

1: Have you thought of sling, mags, and pistol grip.

2: I think theres a bit of wait, not sure though...

3: I like the Phantom, using it on my current build.

4: LaRue does have 11" handguards... Also 7,9,10,11, & 12" too.

5: Dont know, cant help ya there.

6: Also cant help ya, not a big optic fan. I use iron sights w/ the occasional red-dots w/ no magnification. I have heard good things about both...

Sounds like youre on the right track! Cant wait to see it posted w/ a range report.

What part of Texas are you in? CTD carries a nice line of AR-15 products. They are right there off of I-35 in FW.

RRA direct may be a little slow.

There are several "good"  RRA dealers on this board.    Many will have what you want in stock.   Take a look around.  You might be surprised about some of the deals.

I got a complete RRA 16 CAR upper cheaper than I could build it with RRA parts from one dealer.  This was at Christmas time.
