I really liked my Colt 6520; its lightweight, dependable, accurate, etc.

So it started off bone stock.  I added a TAG single point adapter and obviously the sling itself.

I took that picture in Texas on a hog hunt.  Two piggies went down with that rifle using iron sights.  I also used it for deer hunting in LA successfully.  Anyone that says .223 won't kill a deer humanly needs to practice with their rifle.

After taking two training courses with a more "tacticool" rifle I began to think that the 6520 with the A1 profile pencil barrel was the right way to go.  Furthermore, I wanted to eventually cover a lot of the barrel because I learned the hard way that hot barrels burn bare skin.

So I started looking at modifying this rifle.  First came a Magpul MIAD grip and trigger guard.  Then I bought a Colt M4 upper receiver off of the EE for a reasonable price.  Then a used EOTech and a Troy BUIS.  I took an old set of M4 hand guards and put them on as well.

I was happy with this setup but still wanted the rails and more barrel coverage.  This led me to buy a DD 10.0 rail and install it.  I cut down the F marked FSB that was on the rifle and used my angle grinder to remove enough material to fit under the DD rails.  I also added a Norgon Ambi magazine release, a Troy flip up front sight and a Magpul CTR stock.

I gotta say I'm happy with the build and really happy that it was so easy to do myself.  I've shot it and sighted it in.  I'm going to put it through its paces to make sure it will hold up but I'm sure it will!
