I am working on my first build, I have a striped lower and LPK that I will be putting together in a few mintues.  I was wanting to know if a 16" or a 20" barrel would be best.  I do not plan on shooting this rifle over 200 yards.  Will be using it for shooting around, teaching the wife how fun they are, so I can build another here soon.  Also would it cheaper to buy a complete upper or peice it together?

go with a 16" midlength, odds are it's cheaper to buy a complete upper

watch the EE, good deals come up often

I think 20" because I have a new complete upper for sale on EE.

I would suggest 16" for a lighter weapon for your wife.   Search the EE and the sponsers of this site for your gear.  You will find many bargains and quality gear here.

a 16" bbl will get you out to 200 fine; it would be usually cheaper to buy complete (new or used) vs putting the upper together...unless its a 'speciality' build

either a 16in CAR or a 20" rifle length bbl upper would be the cheaper and easier to obtain--EE or Ind board
