I am trying to build an AR15A2 HBAR service rifle that would be eligible for service rifle matches.  I am using an A2 upper, a Stag lower, and thinking about an Armalite 20 inch 1/9 HBAR barrel - probably chrome lined - and a RRA 2 stage trigger.

My goal is to build a really nice, bomb-proof target rifle that is SR legal, is more accurate than a plinker, looks like a conventional A2, and will take a lot of use, staying around $700.00-$800.00.

I would like to know what others have used for small parts - FSB, rear sight, trigger, hand guards, etc.  (Whether the Armalite screw/clamp FSB is SR legal, etc.)  And any other suggestions based on your own experience.

One thing you should consider to add to your rifle would be one of these.

DCM Free Floater Kit / Barrel Nut-Tube-Handguard Combination

Designed to look like the standard issue handguard, this unique competition forend allows the barrel to free float from the nut forward for maximum accuracy while meeting all DCM regulations.

You also might want to add a competition weight to your buttstock; that way you balance the nose-heavy rifle. POst pics of the competed rifle once you are done, including accuracy test.
