Is there supposed to be a small groove/simple on the castle nut before you stake it?  Or, is this done in the process?  Mine doesn't have one of these.  If there is supposed to be one how do you stake it without it?

Someone here drilled a small hole adjacent to the staking notch on the lock ring. When they peened over the material into the notch it made a nice concentric peen. Looked really nice.

Not all castle nuts have the staking indent (should be there prior to stake). However, you can make an indent by using a dremmel and cutting a very small notch in the forward, top edge of the nut (just a small cut out of the corner, not the entire face). Replace the nut and stake by moving metal into the notch, from the receiver end plate, with a punch.

If you do not want to go through that, you can just install using a little Blue Loctite (242) and tightening it down.
