I tried posting this over on the AR Discussions board but never got a decent response.  That board moves so quickly that if you don't get an answer in an hour or three your post is on page three and never gets seen...

My standard barrel wrench won't fit my DCM FF Tube's barrel nut. Does anyone make an AR-15 version of this (or something similar):

LR-308/AR-10 Free Float Wrench from DPMS.

I'd definitely prefer something that will accomodate a torque wrench.

Did you take the float tube off first?

Yes I did.  The float tube 'assembly' includes the barrel nut, lock ring and FF tube.  The barrel nut has standard female barrel threads on one end and male FF tube threads on the other. The male threads are maybe 1" long.  The diameter of these threads is substantially greater than the barrel diameter.

My wrench looks like this:

This wrench would probably work, but lacks the torque wrench cutout:

Note the difference in the diameter of the barrel opening in the wrenches.

A picture defintely is worth a thousand words -- I see your problem.  There's no way that wrench is going to slip over the extension on the barrel nut that the float tube threads onto...

I can't find an exact picture of the wrench I use ( they were sold by both DPMS and Model 1 a couple of years ago ), but this is pretty close.

You are referring to the 'Barrel Wrench', I presume?

Yes -- a wrench like that should work.  I have two of the ones in my previous post.  The opening for the barrel wrench measures 1.25" and 1.30" and the internal diameter is 1.35" and 1.39".  IIRC the Bushmaster float tube has an exterior diameter of 1.125" and everyone else ( Armalite, RRA, White Oak ) is 1.375"...
