[ARCHIVED THREAD] - First build

I have two stag lowers(stripped) coming this week. The first is going to be a basic build. Here's my problem, "STOP POSTING PICS". I'm now looking at a second morgage. LOL. My question is, if I buy a kit I take it the the upper is completed, right. I would like to put it together myself for the experience/fun. The second I would like to really make a shooter. Any tips or advice that would help with the first are greatly appreciated.

midway usa had a complete unassembled upper a couple of months ago for i think between 3 and 4 hundred dollars, not for sure if they still have them and i dont remember the brand, check them out @ midwayusa.com

If you just want the experience, get the kit and tear down the upper and put it back together. You could even put on a free float handguard which will give you most of the experience you would need. It's nice to have the complete upper in the kit, because some dealers, like Del-Ton, headspace and test fire it.

I find the lower to be the real fun/challenging half to build (also, the greatest cost savings comes into play here, unless I am mistaken). You can always get a completed upper and take it apart and perhaps build it up with some tweaks/mods.

Purchase a complete rifle kit minus the lower reciever from any of the sponsors of this forum who have ads at the top of the forum.

Good luck on your search, it is quite a challenge, but rewarding when you get that kit you wanted.
