Hello Guys,  Im new to the Forum.  I recently obtained a Bushmaster lower and v-match upper A2.  Im looking to build a nice match grade gun using the parts I already have.  Any suggestions for barrels?  I would like to free float but stay as traditional with the looks as possible.  I was thinking 1/9 twist 20" as I will be shooting 55 grain mostly.hinking.gif

Bushmaster (and others) sell free float tubes that retain the orignal look.  I think the stock handguards will still fit over these tubes.

Do a search for 'best' and you'll find planty of barrel topics...

Some of the highly regarded brands seem to be:
Kreiger (sp?)
Noveske
Shilen
White Oak

Thanks for the info.  So what do you think for 55 grain 1/9 twist right.  20" what kind of steel?

1/9 should be fine, though you could search and read differing opinions on that subject for a week or more...

I believe that it is widely accepted that chrome-lined barrels are not as accurate as non-chrome-lined barrels.

Don't confuse chrome-moly steel (regular, non-stainless barrel material) with chrome lined chamber & bore.  Some folks think that a 'regular' chrome-moly barrel is better than stainless for pure accuracy.

I appreciate accuracy as much as the next guy, but I'm not competing in benchrest competitions.  I recently bought a White Oak Armament 18" 1/7 SS barrel for my first AR build.
