| Having a hard time deciding between the Troy folding font sight OR the Samson folding front sight. Any suggestions? Is one better than the other? |
|
I have a Troy rear sight and can't imagine anything better. You'd have to talk really fast to convince me that there's a stronger, more durable design that's as fast to deploy. I think the Troy front sight uses a proprietary sight blade design. Not sure where I heard that, and I could be very wrong. Still, solid workmanship and well worth the cost! |

Buy the Troy rear and Samson front. The samson front is spring loaded and comes up with the push of the side button. You have to pull the troy up into place and they tend to be a bit tight. I love the Troy rear but I prefer the Samson front. I've owned a couple of Arms BUIS and I won't buy another. My 40 & 40L both had some play when they were in the up position. Not something that helps repeatability. |
Samson hasn't made sights for Troy for over a year now. When Samson started his own line of AR products Troy stopped using him. The Troy sights have two locking systems. If one would fail there is a second one that will keep the sight in place. This is why they are tighter to move and this is one reason the Toys are not spring loaded. A spring wouldn't be able to move the Troy sight into place. |
I've got both, and while I like each of them, I like the ability of the Samson to be adjusted the same way as the regular AR15/ M16 front sights. Another option which is similar to the Troy is the new PRI, which is shrouded and uses an standard front sight post as well. |

Ok. So I bought the Samson flip front and ARMS 40L rear this weekend at the gun show. Got home and put them on my rifle. And what do you know I dont like the set up. The Samson SUCKS!!! When it is deployed it has ALOT of play side to side which means no repeat zero. The ARMS 40L is not a bad sight. Not much play but I dont like the fact that is does not lock up in the deployed position. So I sold them both, made my money back and bought the TROY front and rear battle sights. Holy shit these sights ROCK!!!! They deploy easily, they lock up SOLID, they are the lowest profile sight I have ever come across and they look pretty sweet too. TROY sights are what all other BUIS should be measured against. These guys have there shit together. You guys were right, TROY is the way to go! |
