Hi,

I'm thinking of revamping my arsenal, and weeding the herd down to a few types of rifles. For my short range knock-around gun I'm thinking AR's. So that means it's build time.

I'm starting to shop lowers and saw the POF units. I'm familiar with their HK parts, but not AR line.

So...tell me (please),

1. Who has them?

2. Who likes them?

3. Who hates them?

3,a. If you hate them, why?

4. Also I assume I can use a standard gas upper with these lowers, head me off at the pass if that's not the case.

I've bult a couple of AR's, so I'm real familiar with RRA, Stag, DPMS and Olympic. How does POF compare to them? My immediate plan is POF lowers with RRA trigger packs.

I haven't even looked into uppers, other than I want to be able to run my Beowulf on 'em, and the 5.56 uppers will likely make use of 18" barrels.

So how do you like it compared to other lowers? You have any experience with RRA or DPMS?

j/k

Okay, so Rainier has them for $205-$245. I've dealt with John before. And I got an FFL lined up. I'm thinking I'll order about a half a dozen? Unless someone can argue I should be looking at someone else's lowers....

I have one. They are a work of art. They are a great conversation piece. They look great, they fit great and make a cheap upper look like a million bucks.

I just received a 416 lower a few days ago. They do look great and have a nice fit and finish. Mine had a problem though unfortunately. The magwell had an area that wasnt machined all the way making the mags fit real tight. One thing to be aware of with POF. If you have a problem with the receiver you cant ship it back to them yourself. It has to go back through a dealer and then you have to do the paperwork all over again. I sent mine back (through an ffl) for repair or replacement. Anyways, Im sure my receiver was the one bad one out of a thousand. I hope they make it right because I really like the receiver. Since they are a newer company and not as well known, I will post (good or bad)how they are as far as customer service goes.

I did a build with a POF lower and they are excellent. I have purchased two other name brand lowers sense then and they are very very good, however, out of all three POF has been the best.
