Does anyone make a flat top upper without the forward assist, smooth side, upper? TIA

Try a DPMS low-pro upper receiver, believe this is what you looking for.

RRA uses a smooth sided flat top for it's 9mm's. You would need to drill the hole for the gas tube on the front of the receiver to make it work with a 5.56 version.

DPMS does make one.  Fulton Armory sells the same one.

I have looked at this upper for building a scoped only varmint upper.  The two I saw at Knob Creek last year appeared to be of high quality.

Thanks guys, I looked at the DPMS and I think this is what I need.

Keep in mind that the DPMS low pro uppers are higher than mil-spec receivers by about .050 thou of an inch, so they will not line up with a 4 rail free float tube.

Just replaced mine and still have the DPMS  upper. Want it?

Les Baer (sp?) has a flat top smooth side that looks much better than the DPMS extrusion.  They are the only ones I know of that sell it, but their price is fairly reasonable.
