I have a DPMS AR with what is called a tri-mount receiver (according to DPMS). This makes the rail on the receiver sit higher than the forend handguard. To remedy this I need to get a new receiver. DPMS has one for $165. My three questions are this? Will any receiver work to replace the trimount? Is there anything special that I need to do since I have a heavy bull barrel on my AR? I can strip my AR fairly well but I am not that familiar with receiver section. Is this something I can do myself? Thanks for your help and here is a pic of the receiver. You can see that my mount and scope are too high!

Any standard flat top upper will work usually called A3 or A4 uppers. Also your bull barrel will not be a problem, the receiveres are the same as far as threading, etc. You will need an action block, vice, and barrel wrench, and whatever tools you need to take your gas block off with. It is something you can do yourself. Good link that shows how to remove a barrel, etc. scroll down untill you find it. Good Luck

It is just the A4 Upper. It does not have a barrel attached so you could attach whatever barrel configuration that you would like. Give me a call and I'll get ya taken care of. |
