I installed a A2 buffer tube on my recent build and the tube depresses the buffer detent when it is screwed all the way in. The tube is a brand new take-off from a Bushmaster and the lower is an Eagle Arms. When fully installed, the tube is flush with the top of the receiver. What would be a fix for this? I was thinking I could just file some material from the end of the tube. Any suggestions appreciated.

Your not supposed to screw it in all the way, just enough to where the detent pops up but doesn't go flying out of the receiver.

Could you take more pics. Need pics of the other side where you screw the buffer tube into the receiver.

A2 buffer tubes get screwed in all the way, there’s a flange at the end of the threads that rests against the receiver.

dp1one,

The buffer tube is supposed to retain the buffer retainer spring and buffer retainer within the lower receiver. Insert the buffer and spring to see if the retainer does it’s job. If not, then you can remove just enough material with a file to allow the retainer to sit up high enough.
