[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Reg upper vs. M4 upper

Newbie question and I tried search but no luck. What is the difference between a reg upper and an M4 upper? Is it the feed ramp cut only? Must you use and M4 barrel with and M4 upper...what combination of barrel to upper parts work?

I am considering the M4 CMT upper for my first build.

feed ramp cut only and must you use and M4 barrel extension, you dont need a m4 barrel.

honsetly I did not know about feed ramps or that thursday was the day they all come up but it is pretty funny. It's probably cause all us newbies want to get our uppers on order before the weekend...I am going to order mine today.
