I just finished my lower...
Spike's stripped lower
DPMS parts
DPMS PSG copy pistol grip
Magpul PRS
Timney drop in trigger

Now, the rifle is going to be a varmit/long range shooter and I am over my head with the amount of different parts and info available....so I am turning to everyone else for their thoughts and ideas on what I am thinking....

Upper receiver...probably CMMG or Vltor...
20 inch Bull Barrel with matched bolt, 1:7 twist...(prefer black over stainless for the whole tactical idea of not having a big shiny barrel)
I like the look of the JP Handguards...
no BUIS
some sort of bipod
some scope, maybe Burris or Super Sniper....

What do you guys think of those parts....I am trying to be as money saving as possible without really cutting corners on quality....I don't think I want complete four rail system because the only thing I will add to the rifle will be a bipod.

I have noticed some scopes extend out over the barrel, but it looks like those that are mounted that way, do so with an extended rail system from the upper receiver instead of the handguard rails.....

So....any suggestions or changes you can think of?  Do I need 4 rails for any reason?  How are the Super Snipers for the price?  Do I need a flash hider/muzzle brake or can I just go with a clean barrel? Anything major I am forgetting (I know I need the forward assist, ejection cover, bolt carrier, charging handle, gas tube, and gas block)?  Feed Ramps or not on this build?

Do you want to carry this around or only shoot from the bipod on the bench?

Bull barrels are heavy.
I'm just saying...

it will be a bench only gun...well, sometimes prone...I have others to carry.....

Then the more weight the merrier...
I suggest a Badger handguard.
It's got a nice wide flat bottom.
Rides a bag really nice on the bench.
It's also tapped for a sling stud that you can mount a bipod to.
Lastly, it's heavy which is good on the bench.
Price is between a basic freefloat and a fancy rail system.

Only downside is that it takes a special wrench.
Of course if you have me build the upper, I got that covered.

I agree...........but I also like the weight and accuracy of a heavy barrel (HB) vs. a bull.  Just a personal choice.
