First build.
What is the quality of their kits? Any experience?
I contacted Nick at J&T and, he said they use FN receivers and Shaw barrels. FN has a world wide reputation but, I didn't know they made AR parts. The Shaw barrel is not chrome lined.
Opinions?
I already tried the search.
Thanks,
Mike

I haven't heard many complaints about J&T, if I was going to build a kit gun I might get theirs. However FN does not sell parts to the civilian AR manufacturers, they are prohibited from doing so. J&T may get their receivers from the same foundry that FN gets theirs from, I doubt they could come up with a receipt showing that they bought receivers directly from FN.

edit FN has a contract to make M-16s for the US .gov. However that contract prohibits them from civilian sales.

I've built two rifles from JT kits, both were were flawless in fit and finish. They're the good guys.

Good people to do business with, I built a 24" bull barrel from their kit, it's very accurate and been totally reliable.

assembled my first one from one of their kits.  No problems what so ever.  Was missing a couple of springs when I got it.  Called them and they overnighted them to me.  I'm looking at a 16" carbine version right now and they are in the running with two other sources.  Actually, they are running first.

Built a little M-4gery from one of their kits.  No problems in any way.

But . . . I'd spend the extra money and get a "chromed" barrel/chamber

I asked, The reply that I received was" Chrome lined bores are NOT an option."

Uh, some of the barrels are listed as being available w/chrome lining, though not all of them.

Purchased a Commando kit 1 year ago, had some issues with the flash hider coming loose, Called JT they replaced my barrel and flash hider. Anyone can tell you they have had good experience from a company, personally I like hearing how a company handles problems.

Buy with confidence they are good guys to work with.

This is how my build looked right after it was complete.

Here's my JT varminter on a Fab 10 lower (California gun).

It's all their gear except the bipod, scope, and mount.  The only problem is that the rails on the bull barrel gas block aren't Picatinny spec - the slots are too narrow.  I don't know if this is still the case - they call it a Picatinny gas block on their web site, and it looks the same.

RRA uses this same gas block on their varmint uppers.  I bought a YHM flip-up front sight that wouldn't fit due to the slot width, and the guy I bought it from on the EE was selling for that reason.  To their credit, RRA calls it a Weaver gas block, not Picatinny, but why anyone makes non-Picatinny spec gear for ARs is beyond me.

I've decided there's no need for BUIS on a varmint gun, anyway...

Maxicon - How does she shoot?  I'm thinking of that same kit for my first build.  How long is your barrel looks to be what? 24"

Here's one I put together:

J&T 20" Stainless, Fluted Bull Barrel
Stag Lower
Ace Skeleton ARFX Stock
Nikon Glass
Harris BiPod
RRA Trigger & LPK

The folks at J&T are great.  Very helpful, great products.  I have no hesitation recommending them and will certainly do business with them again.

The ballerina's rifle is a J&T kit.

16" Chrome lined pencil barrel
Oly Lower
A2 upper
Cav Arms Furniture
Does double duty with an M261 .22lr kit.

It's a real nice shooter.  I'm going to build myself an identical rifle with the Cav Arms gray furniture I bought years ago with the pink stuff.

Been extremely happy with my J&T build.  I ordered only the upper from them.  Light-under-handguards M4 profile 1:9 barrel, flattop with carry handle, chromed bore and chamber.  Fit and finish were excellent.  Accurate, reliable and affordable.  Buy with confidence.

Hey OB, that almost looks like a Stickman picture.  Good photography.

I bought a J&T lightweight tactical.  It is the only non-chrome lined barrel I have left.  That is because I like it sooooo good.

They really have nice kits and their internals are the best out there I think.

Buy from J&T with confidence. As far ask chrome lined, the kits I have bought I was able to pay I think 50 dollars to upgrade to a chromed lined bore.

That's a 20 incher.  It's still pretty durn heavy, with the handguard and all.  I definitely wouldn't get anything longer.

I haven't had a chance to dial it in yet due to bad weather out here.  I'll update when I get some groups out of it.  Hoping for the best!
