I am currently working on a build of a standard AR for CMP competitions but also want some versatility when coyote hunting or just shooting at the range.  I'm coming from a primarily M14 background so the AR offers a lighter option.  I chose a GripPod and thus far am impressed, but usually am in the beginning.  So while it's still new (and I can possibly resale or return it) I want to know what others have to say about this device.  The only thing I have been able to decide is it is definitely sturdy and works as a forend grip even without the bipod.  Please advise and I'm a visual guy show different builds using it.  Thanks!

I have a grip pod on one of my M4s, and one on a AR15, I use them for coyote hunting also, they work great, I might get flamed for this, but I have bought one made for airsoft, it was less than $15. I would not normally buy an airsoft part, but I was able to handle this one at a gunshow, and it is pretty good, for more than a $100 less than a real one...
Sorry no pics yet

Thanks for your input that answers my question.  I think mine are for airsoft too, but they are sturdy enough for my M14 so I think they will work for an AR.  I got two to be on the safe side, I'm pretty much planning on working on a second build for my recently returned from Iraq brother and I'll probably use the second one on his and see what he has to say.  Hooah!

AIRSOFT!?!?!?!?!  For shame. Don't worry, they just steal their shit from us (meaning the real deal) and get the Chinese to build 'em cheap.

4 years in Japan with regular visits to China, Hong Kong and Korea I can attest for their "non-lethal firearm toys".  I am not about to buy a sight from them, but general furniture looks pretty sturdy.  I could have had them do the same in aluminum but they already had these strong polymer plastic ones and I'm still working hard to break it.  Funny thing is the only run in I had with the law was with an airsoft and they tried to charge me with a third degree felony for something I did not do with it (in the case I was being tried for).  But honestly, do they think people buy airsoft or paint ball and don't shoot others with it.  Sorry for the side note, just had to add that.  With that said the grippod continues to function perfectly.

Please describe the real one, despite the fact the cheap one works fine after I win the lottery or get a real job I want to get a real grip pod.  You can get the cheap ones on eBay for a little less if you get more than one (you save on the outrageous shipping).

That looks like a pretty good cheap option.

Has anyone tried one of these? P3 Mono Grip

I bought a gun vise from them that has been very good, just wondering if anyone has tried it. I have been looking at GripPods and this one was half the price, although a bit different.

Here are some pics of the Fakepod. It is still holding up very well, I have used it, and loaned it out to other soldiers and it has been used on many ranges with m16/m4. It is a pretty big hit with most people.

I will work on getting some pics with it attatched/being used.
I need to get a better camera

Here's a link to a mod the guy made to the knock off ones to make it sturdier and it does have STEEL in the bi-pods he has pic posted where he disassembled it.
