Hello everyone!

I am a college student and have decided to build my own AR from parts. Could be fun

After much searching on AR15.com and the net, I have found most of the information I need, but have one slight question...

What is the difference in finishes on stripped lower receivers? I see some are teflon coated (i.e. CMMG) and others are not (i.e. Stag Arms). Does teflon coating have any type of advantages over those that are not? Not sure if one or the other is milspec... I assume teflon produces a darker black than simple anodizing?

Thanks!
Tristan

Hard anodizing is Mill-Spec. Teflon is nice, but more of a shinny black (not gloss). Either will work fine. As for advantages.........huh, i think that is more opinion than anything. Good luck and have fun.

Thanks PropDoc. I think I will stick with the regular hard anodizing then. Sure wish we had more stores locally with a bigger selection as far as ARs go here in Pittsburgh. However I think I am going to go with a Stag receiver (and no - I don't mind the deer head!)hanks
