I have a couple of SS barrels and need to blast them. I like the soft look.  What size glass beads do I want to use 80 grit  or smaller? Or should I use silica sand then bead blast.

Thanks

I have always used 80 Grit aluminum oxide media for a nice dull finish. Beads will clean and hide scratches etc. but will still leave it with a shine. Make sure you tape the ends to protect the chamber and crown.

I have found that the best medium is to mix the aluminum oxide with the glass beads.  It gives it a great smooth and dull finish.  Very sharp looking.  You can also use aluminum oxide first and then switch out to the glass beads and it looks fantastic.  I have always thought that just aluminum oxide was a very harsh rough look compared to the other two methods.  Good luck with it.  GS
