I am getting ready to build my first one. need advice on parts. do you need a bull barrel to get accuracy? who has the best parts at the best prices? i want to build an accurate gun for a reasonable price.( my 1911 is a rock island it feeds and fires every time and hits what its aimed at. it is a cheap 45 but it does everything you can ask a gun to do there are folks that are of the opinion that if it didn't cost a grand and then you have to fix its problems it isn't any good) but i think an accurate weapon that functions everytime is all one needs. any advice and reccomendations that will get me on the road to doing that with an ar would be greatly appreciated. thanks

well, first, welcome to the site

second, read the tacked threads on the boards, starting w/ this one: Build it yourself
and use your 'search' feature

how much expierence have you had w/ ARs or working on firearms? ARs are one of the easiest guns to build and work on, but a little expirence on em will help....

what kind of accuracy are you looking to achieve (most stock C-L bbls will get you ~1.5MOA at 100 easily)? a quality varmiter/bull bbl will get you the msot potential accuracy, but you will have some bulk; on the other hand, a SPR-like bbl (like my WOA) is a very accurate bbl that looses some of the bulk and weight of a traditional bull

what are your purposes for your AR--CQB, plinker, varmiter, target, etc??

as for parts, stick to the good brands (ABCDRS brands), avoid the chicom stuff

check the EE and Industry boards for great deals and dealers for AR/gun stuff
i can highly recommend these guys for prices and service: DSGArms, PKFirearms, Eaglefirearms.net, aimsurplus, BravocompanyUSA, ADCO, Mooneys, and Rainier Arms

good luck

Hi and welcome to the BRD(black rifle disease) addiction. I would like to 2nd everything AlphaGhost just said and would also like to add that you should stop by the Washington Home Town Forum and introduce your self. Let the guys know what county you are from claim that you have beer and sit back and watch the goofy crap that they do. Chances are if you run into any probloms during your build a fellow member that lives close would haul ass on over to help you out. Hunter121
