Hello all, I am in the process of my first build and I have not decided on weather to get the DPMS which will be available this week or wait for the RRA which may take a while (my local dealer has them on backorder)  I heard the RRA has less play between the upper and lower.  Any comments/suggestions will be appreciated.

The RRA will most likely be a tighter fit with an upper than the DPMS.  I prefer RRA myself, I have three and all three have been excellent.  There are many who like DPMS and I believe their quality has been steadily improving.  Either would probably serve you well.

I prefer RRA.... but the wait could be VERY long.  Most lowers are good to go....

The fit depends on your upper. I had a RRA lower that simply would not fit on my bushmaster upper. I tried it on a high standard upper; it fit, but I had to use a hammer and a punch to get the pins back out. I eventually sold it to a guy who had an upper that fit just about perfect, like it was made for that lower.

I have a Stag lower, and it is "looser" than any i have had before.

In summary, of the three types I have owned:

Stag - loosest (upper/lower wiggle)
Bushmaster - about perfect
RRA - must use a hammer and punch, if it fits at all

Again, it depends on your upper.

YMMV

Both should be about the same. I know that RRA have a issue with over tight fitting upper's and lower's. Also check out if avalible the CMMG, And The Stag. Bushmaster also make's a nice lower. Have you decided what upper you are going with? Color matching etc.

I got the M1S Kit.  Thanks for all the info, I will probably go with DPMS.  I'll let you all know how it goes..

I have seen negative here about DPMS, but I have never had a problem with any of their parts. I have built several DPMS rifles that were excellent shooters.

I went to a local gun shop and the owner talked me into the getting the Stag lower.  It is on order and should be here in less than a week.  I'll update when I recieve it.  Thanks to all again for the info
