is there anyway to get rid of the tuning fork effect of the vortex flash hider? I'm starting to wish i had put a different flash hider on my build. |
| Not that I am aware of, but this FH looks similar and from what I know doesn't make that sound Saylor FH |
It really does exist for some I guess, I have had the same experience as you but many others do report it exists. |
| I have the Vortex blind pinned on two separate 1/7 twist 14.5" M4 bbls. They both make the tuning fork sound when fired. I think the sound is cool. I can't say if it helps with bbl harmonics, but they both shoot well. You can especially hear it when fired under shelter. |

WHAT? Damn, forgot to turn up my hearing aid. Nope, never hear it. Tuning fork, eh. If ya get a bunch of 'em together, can ya harmonize! Lost my keys, my eye sight's going... Now it seems my hearings going too. It's hell getting old. A "twang"? I thought that was a southern thang! I don't notice it, though when struck against an object, it does "sing". buckmeister |
WOW, Buckmeister have you checked into getting some ridilin? |

If you actually shoot your gun, you will no longer notice the clang of your Vortex, or the Sproing of your buffer spring. If you continue to fondle your piece in your basement and never fire live rounds, you will never get around this percieved issue of sound. Of course, you will never need to purchase pants, either, because tighty whiteys are uniform of the day for the basement sound police. What a baited troll question for a team member...... You should be ashamed.![]() Yes, you defaulted yourself to bring jelly donuts to the Monday team member's troll account management seminar. DO NOT BE LATE!!!! |
None needed, just had too much coffee at too late an hour. I suppose that one gets used to the sounds associated with the AR. First time I pulled the trigger and heard the "sproing" from the buffer/spring, I thought "what-the-heck?". Now I don't notice it. The same with the ringing from the Vortex. It does remind me of a ringtone circulating. The young hear it; older ears are deaf to it. It is a good thing that wisdom involves years lived. Something lost, but something gained.
