Here is first part (posted in pic section but thought I'd put it in a seperate thread.
http://www.qsl.net/kf6myv/ar15/lower%20004b.JPG

FedEx truck is out there somewhere now w/ my trigger assembly, mag lock kit, extended take down pin, and grip. This build may take me some time to complete but fun so far.

I like J&T Distributing/ Double Star's stuff. Are you using them for all or some of the remainder of your build?

What is your next build going to be? What's the one after that gonna be?

Whats on its way is:

1 x   Stag Lower Receiver Parts Kit
1 x Prince50 Designs Mag-Lock Kit
1 x Watson EXTENDED Take Down Pin

Upper will probably be CMMG and the mag from TenPercent(30rnd blocked to 10rnd). Not sure on buttstock yet.

Next build? Hmmm gotta get through this first.

Stag lower kit has (2) hammers and (0) triggers :( Time to go through it all see what else may be wrong and shoot off an email.

Post some pix as you build, it will be a bad ass project ..

Ok here is what I have now. I used that brass tubing I had and drilled a hole in it so that I could install the Pivot Pin. Used the key to push in the detent.

Now if I only had that trigger

Looks good.  I am sure Stag will make good on the trigger.  Look at this way.  When you reveive the trigger, you will have an extra hammer.  You can use it to experiment with the home trigger jobs that involve lightning the hammer.  Or you will have a spare.  Let us know how the rest of the build goes.

Have Fun,

I thought detachable mags in CA was a no-go?
1/6/2007 11:46:05 AM EDT
[#13]
That is a 30rnd blocked to 10rnd and its locked in place. Locked mags allow the pistol grip. If you wanted detachable you would need to go w/ a non-pistol grip setup.

how do tou load a fixed mag firearm?please excuse my ignorance, but we have no such laws in KS.i know how you feel,i'm waiting on my kit from M&A,supposed to be here mid jan.,it's gonna be my 1st ar and i can't wait.it's drivin me nuts....

You get an extended rear take down pin so you can grab it easier and intall that. Then you just pull that pin and fold the upper down and feed it from top of mag.

If I was going to use a mag that was fixed, and limited to 10 rounds - I would want it to protrude only the 10 rounds worth.  Smaller profiles are better.... if we could fit 30 rounds in a 10 round prfile we all would.

Using a 30 rounder just for looks is kinda poserish.  I guess I might be more inclined to have the 30 round "look" just because CA didnt want to me..... but if I did that at ALL, it would be the 20 rounder.

Hey, we all have our own preferences and I prefer to have the look of a 30 rounder. If I didnt care about looks I woulda gone detachable w/ the hokey look of the non pistol grip. Not what I wanted though. To each his own. If your happy with what you create than thats great. I know I will be happy w/ what I make hat
Oh and by the way, 10 round mags dont pertrude at all which looks really gay in my opinion. Like theres nothing even there.

You must be thinking of the 5 round mags, because here's a photo of a rifle with a 10 round mag and it certainly does "pertrude".

That just happens to be a 10 rounder that is cut that way then blocked up.  They can make 10 rounders that are shorter, and do not protrude:

10rnd'r I just shot recently was like that one. So then there are different types. Anyway I like the 30 look and sticking to it

Wow, you guys are right -- nothing does protrude from that!  California -- the land of wonders.

Where you at in CA??? I am in the Bay Area. It's nice to see 2 AR born within a day of each other. I just finished mine yesterday. From start to finish in 1 day. Here is the link:

My first ever build. AR-15 16" CA (lots of PIC)

So the mag you got is actually a 10rd but looks like a 30 rnd??? Does it have a pin so you can't load more then 10rd. Where did you get it? Also what are you using for mag release? looks like Prince50 Mag Lock but i can't really see. You heard of Bullet-Button?

Ah yes very nice build.

I am in Folsom about 30miles east of Sac. Yes that is a 30 blocked to 10. It looks like they just punch in a little flap from the outside to block it. I got that from tenpercentfirearms.com looks like their sold out at the moment. The mag lock is the one from coldwarshooters.com looks like it must be the Prince50 then since thats what they sell.

Bullet-Button, nope. Whats that all about?

I just finished a build with Doublestar lower and Del-Ton upper.  Fit and finish just as good as my factory assembled units!
