Ok, after burning lots of high-speed net time doing searches that didn't include the words "playmate" or "silicon", I am still unable to find what I want:

a mid-length upper with a pencil barrel profile.

Does such a beast exist?  Do I only want what I can't have and was unable to find?

I've been leaning towards a mid-length because I already have a 20" & an M4gery.  And, I wanted a light weight barrel profile so that it will be easier for a woman to shoot it and it fits in with this vague theory of an "Arizona AR" - light for carrying all day, short for heavy brush, bit longer sight radius for the open desert, Duracoat some desert camo on it.  Like I said, it is still vague.

Anyone know where I could find such a beast, or maybe find the parts to build one?  I've never built an upper and was looking for the "take out of box and place on lower" approach, but I could be talked into something more complex.

Wait, I can read your mind!  I appreciate why a Dissipator top end fits what I'm looking for, but I just don't care for the looks of 'em, hence the mid-length.

Thanks in advance!

CMMG makes a 14.5" midlength upper in the light weight profile.

Beautiful!

Thanks for the info.  I checked out CMMG and somehow missed what was right under my nose the entire time.

I appreciate the help.

I'm not finished with this build yet, but here's my CMMG 14.5" Lightweight 1/7 twist Mid-Length Upper. I got the upper in last night.

DM, that is a very sweet rifle.

Is that a Cav Arms foreend?

Yes.  It's their C6 model ( Cavalry Arms C6 ) They also have the tapered kind called C8 ( C8 Handguard ) which is the style used by CMMG

I ordered the handguard separate from the upper.  CMMG only listed the C8 & black on their website (as far as I could tell - never called to verify).

I did call CMMG after the upper came in & asked them a stupid question, which demonstrated either my IQ, old age or both. Luckily, they said that they would keep it between me & them.
