I'm looking into buying a carbine length upper.  The one I am looking at is a Rock River 16" middy.  However it does not come with the BCG.  It is a RRA assembled piece.  If I plan to use my RRA BCG from my Varmint, any headspace measurements need to be taken?

Thanks

I recommend against "sharing" a bolt between multiple barrels.
It's not a problem to share the carrier and the charging handle, but at the minimum, buy a bolt to dedicate to the 2nd upper.

The reasoning is that each bolt and extension will "break-in" as a pair.
This only takes a couple hundred rounds.
After that, the wear pretty much stops.

By swapping bolts and firing a few hundred rounds, you are breaking-in the bolt to each barrel each time.

This will accelerate the wear on both barrels and the bolt.

At a minimum, you should check headspace when you swap bolts and every year on a rifle that's not getting bolts swapped around.

I see your point, I had not thought of that.  I'll get a BCG for the new upper.
Thanks
