Hi,

I have a 16" Armalite target upper w/ the round (green) free floating handguard.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the handguard (jam nut & etc) ???

No problem w/ the comp, gas block & tube, but I'm "stumped" after that.

THANKS for any hints/tips/help,

EE

The retaining ring just un-threads.
A strap wrench is handy.

The ring is threaded forward onto the green handguard tube, so with the upper in front of you, muzzle to the left, you want to get the top of the black ring coming towards you to break it loose.
The handguard is aligned to the barrel nut with a pin so it will NOT rotate.
Only the locking ring rotates.
Once you break it loose and spin it off, the handguard will come forward off the barrel nut.

Then you will need a barrel nut wrench with pins that are longer than normal.
I recommend the DPMS freefloat wrench or maybe a YHM wrench.
