Gentlemen,

I am trying to remove the barrel from an Olympic arms 9mm upper. The rifle is brand new and I am trying to put new FF handguards on it.

I cannot get the barrel nut to move at all.  hout
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

RJ

They torque the piss out of them. I've used 2 methods. One is spray penetrating oil onto the threads (what threads you can see) and let it soak for a hour or so, then put a breaker bar on your barrel nut wrench.

The second one I've used is to put the whole upper in the freezer for a few hours. The metal shrinks a little as it gets cold. Then put a breaker bar on the barrel nut wrench and pray you don't rip the upper receiver apart.

Thanks for the info. I was afraid that was the answer i'd get.

The crappy thing is i can see white high heat grease on the back of the threads.

i have already managed to tear up the teeth on the nut pretty good. RJ
