on  new LPK/reciever
about 30% of the time the BHO will not engage. cycling the bolt by hand with an empty magazine (known "good" magazines) the magazine spring force is not enough to pop the BHO up enough.

im pretty sure the spring and BHO detent thing was installed properly.
possible i need to drill out the roll pin hole on the BHO latch a little, although i do not feel any major resistance cycling it by hand, although spring pressure seems a little stronger than usual

I'm going to play 20 question type guessing game.

Look at a rifle here that has no mag, on safe and in battery, the bolt catch as some sideways wiggle in it.   (saidwats being towards the barrle and stock)

That said, is the bolt catch being squezed to tight by the receiver?  Maybe some excess goop on the "black paint job" has reduced the space below the specs tolerence?

thanks. could see some minor rub/contact marks on the bolt stop, clearanced as necessary. now it seems a little smoother and works with empty magazine OK 100%. need range trip to verify

I would bet money the bolt catch roll pin hole is too tight.  All too common.  You can let it work itself out over time, or remove it and dremel/drill the hole a tiny bit bigger.

See this a LOT on DPMS bolt catches... and a couple stag/CMT's lately.
