When using tapeswitches, the wires always dangle in the wrong places & get in the way.
I decided to figure out a simple, low-profile way to keep them neatly tucked away, using materials I already have.
Here's what you need: - Magpul Railcovers (your choice of color) - Velcro wire-tier strips. Comes in all kinds of colors...black works for me. - 20 gage Wire (found in hobby stores like Michael's) - Hot Tip cauterizer. Found here http://www.dotmed.com/listing/116831 - Scissors
Prep: Cut a 2" length of the Velcro Strap and a two-rail segment of the Magpul ladder.
Option A: Horizontal Mounting For Horizontal mounting, just place the Velcro strip under the ladder, and press on. The ladder will keep the strip tight as a drum.
Option B: Vertical Mounting Center the Strip, as shown (hook-side facing you). Hold in place with thumb.
Use cauterizer to burn holes in strip, allowing the heat to touch the Ladder.
The ladder will have guidemarks burnt in-place.
Use the cauterizer to run a clean hole through the Ladder at each guidemark.
Thread wire as shown
Bring wire over the front, and through the back side on the second set of holes. Keep it tight. Twist & pigtail the connection.
Completed Tie-down
To use, just lay the wire in-place and close the Velcro.
On the Rifle.
With Velcro open
All buttoned-up.
Enjoy
