I want to spray and bake a new finish on my lower, upper, and barrel prior to building.  Should I sand blast off the factory finish and start on bare metal?  Thanks for the input.

Short answer,

NO, for the upper and Lower,  YES, on the barrel.

What product are you planing to use?

I was thinking of going with Moly, but I am still open to suggestions.

DON'T remove the original finish! This is because the ever-so-slightly "rough" finish gives more surface area for the new finish to stick to. Do degrease the crap out of everything before you spray it on, though. You'll also want to do the spraying outside or in your garage, because the stuff stinks to high heaven. I have had excellent results with Brownell's bake-on teflon/Moly. It goes on pretty thick, so if you do a stripped receiver, you will need to mask off or plug any holes for pins, etc. Otherwise, just do both upper and lower together, and close the ejection port.

Check out the refinishing Forum,   link

Also Stickman posted some good info on refinishing, Refinish

You definitely don't want to sandblast the anodizing off the aluminum receivers.
