Hey guys, I just picked up my Colt 6921 RSBR. Sorry, no pics yet- camera is down. This is my first carbine AR as well as my first no ban config AR. I want to do some mods and I'm not quite sure what I need. Right now I'm mainly concerned with replacing the collapsible stock. I've seen several different wrenches and I don't know which one to get. First, there is the one from SAW. I wish SAW would describe their shit in more detail or post pics of it so people like me kow what the hell they are buying. But does anyone here have one? Is this just a stock wrench or is it an "armorer's wrench"? Next, we have the two at the bottom of the page. Will the armorer's wrench do the job of the stock wrench? Or are they 2 separate animals? By the way, what is the square hole in the middle of the armorer's wrench for? Any other suggestions? I will need an armorer's wrench in the future, so I'd like one wrench that will do everything including removing the stock castle nut. Finally, how in the hell do you use a torque wrench with one of these wrenches to tighten a FS or a castle nut? I have a torque wrench but it is actually a ratchet. Is this the wrong type of torque wrench. Pictures of how to use it would be helpful. Thanks! -Zak |
![]() Is the wrench you need for changing a stock HOWEVER, if you are just changing stock bodies you can just pull off the old and put on the new without removing the buffer tube, use a LMT, Vltor, Magpul or other which uses a milspec tube just grasp the latch firmly and pull away from the tube, the pin will slide over the edge and you can pull it off The other wrench is for a barrel change and other R&R items, the square hole in the middle is for the torque wrench to fit into some combo wrenches have it all together in one You have a Colt, I would do all I could not to break the stock staking at the barrel nut and reciever end plate There's a how to link here somewhere, I'll try to find it The link Click here |
So the barrel nut and castle nut / end plate are staked? Would this make it difficult or even impossible to remove the stock buffer tube?
Does it go back on just as easy? Sorry, but that link didn't do much for me. I could still use some explaining / pics on how to use a torque wrench for these tasks and what kind to use. Thanks! -Zak |
