Thanks DM!  I thought about screwing on the other three rails that came with the Vltor and slapping my kids airsoft ir illuminator and laser on it along with the bipod and scope off my 10/22 and duct tape my Schrade hunter for a bayonet, but figured that might be a little too far across the whiz-bang line.

Also, it weighs in at 8.8lbs according to my digital bathroom scale, so I thought that was plenty already.

Nice rig, congrats.

You should have gone with the Vltor Modstock but that CA has a nice modern design too.

+1 on the dot sight and SureFire upgrades.

Update us later on how it shoots.

Heh, heh.  I'll have to take some time over the weekend and do that.  Maybe I can put the kid's Power Ranger sword on the front and my 2m candlepower spotlight

Then I can get some ARFCOM love like this guy... HERE

when those buttons on that optic fall off, don't let them get away. ATN wont send you a replacement. You have to send the whole sight back. I have mine rigged..... Nice carbine.

Well, I got it to the range today and I was pretty impressed.  Rifle functioned flawlessly with the exception of a couple of mag errors (one of my 20 rnd mags won't feed the last two rounds).

Anyway, I started off with the irons, expecting to make a ton of adjustments, but to my surprize it was dead on center and only 2" low at  50 yds.

Next I worked on the ATN dot sight.  The dot on this thing has really impressed me considering what it is.  I was shooting in full afternoon sun with my yellow safety glasses on and the dot was perfectly visible, bright and clear... then I realized it wasn't even turned up all the way.  I know it's no Trijicon (my next purchase) but pretty decent for $100.

The dot took some doing to get dialed in, but once it was it did great.  Pic below is 5 shot group with the ATN (dot reticle) at 50 yds.

I am still GumbyDammit!

With a rest... actually leaning on the trunk of my car.  I was at the "Open Range" range just hoping to get it on paper, thought it would take a lot more than that (my NIB Colt did!).  I'm going to try and get to a "real" range with benches and 200 yd targets over the weekend and see what I can really do.  In the mean time I'm pretty happy with that.

Good job on the build! The tripower is a great optic I'm sure you'll like it. Remember to get a good mount for it. I'd recomend the Larue canteliver or standard mounts. Good shooting! Have fun with it.

just out of curiosity, what is wrong with the ATN?  also, if it wasn't on the vltor casv-el handguard, would it co-witness with the buis?

As far as the reticle on the ATN goes, it's great.  Use the dot for pinpoint shots and the crosshair for closer in.  Biggest issue I have is no co-witness on the Vltor rail (yes, it does co-witness on the flat top... should have verified that first) and after handling the Tripower I got hooked.  For ~$100 (ebay) though the ATN is a good value IMO.

That is sweet.  You just need the CAA mag attachment and the sling swivil
Please toss some pics on my sales post

Thanks Derek.  I'll be contacting you for more accessories in the near future.

I thought I had posted a pic in your sale thread, if not I'll do it tonight.  The stock is awesome, I keep an extra set of batteries and ears in the storage compartment.  It will even hold my Leatherman Micra if I need a small tool (no small tool jokes guys).  I'll also be looking to add the mag holder.

Again thanks for the great product and even better service!!
