I am in the process of converting my bushmaster M4/A2 to a flat top. I bought a RRA upper receiver with a pre-installed forward assist and port door. My plan is to basically swap the upper receivers. So I would be putting my old barrel on the new RRA upper receiver and using my old bolt. I was told by an AR armorer that I should go and by a new bolt. I have probably fired around 1000 or so rounds thru it to this date. So finally to my question. Do I need to buy a new bolt or can i swap my old barrel and bolt and use it in the new RRA upper receiver? I'm sure this has probably been asked about a guzillion times but any advice would be appreciated.

Your fine using your old barrel/bolt combo with your new receiver, won't hurt a thing.

You're good to go.

1,000rds is barely broken in, anyways.

Not to change the subject or anything but how well does the finish match up between the BM and RRA parts?

If anything, after 1000 rounds your bolt is more perfectly matched to your barrel than it was new.  Your armorer is either a: trying to sell you a bolt, or b: quoting some procedure out of an old army manual or something.

Your bolt engages the barrel extension on your barrel, not the upper.  If the upper is properly manufactured to tolerances it will work fine.
