Well I purchased a Colt 6520 upper (post ban) at a pawn shop for 250.00 It had a stainless or silver painted bolt???? and a wierd free floating handguard.  Standard A2  sights and no flash hider.  I just purchased a Double Star lower from Lone Star Wholesale with everything but the stock installed for 158.00 shipped.  I have an old C1 stock but no parts to it so I called on some parts and ended up buying an M4 SOCOM stock complete for 115 bucks 122 shipped.  So I'm finished at 530.00.  I want to but a 6x scope to finish it off.  I just wanted a lightweight shooter.  I haven't got the stock yet so I haven't got  a range report.

Thats what I was told when I bought it from the markings.  I'll post them again and you can confirm or reinform me because I really have no idea.
Barrel has an O or a C then a space  MP 5.56 Nato 1/7.    The Upper  on the right hand  side right in front of the rear sight has a C above and MB.    Bolt apppears to be stainless and not painted.  Also the barrel is heavy under the handguards.  Upside down on the barrel right before the front sight on the heavy part is stamped 9/97.  The other Nato stuff is stamped on top of the barrel near the end.

I may be mistaken, but isn't the 6520 a lightweight under the handguards, like .625 the whole barrel?

If the barrel is heavy under the handguards, its not a 6520, but from the markings on thebarrel, its a Colt, which is probably more important.  It sounds like a good price even if its not a Colt bolt.

I would be interested in seeing pics whenever you get the chance.

plu1 pics would help

All the speculation about the make and now nothing?  6520?  I would be interested to know if anyone has any ideas.

The Chrome Bolt Carrier looks to be DPMS

looks like a bastard.....but that ain't a bad thing.  the "D" on the carrier denotes a DPMS product.  Looks nice.  Send that puppy to ADCO and get it threaded .

I still think the handguard looks fricken' cool.

I am not up on Colt products so others may be able to chime in on the lineage of the rest of it.  Still a great deal on a nice looking upper.  Have fun with it.

The bolt carrier is chromed like everyone said, this will make the rifle (or I should say the bolt carrier) easier to clean and some believe it will function better with a chromed bolt carrier.  The hand guard almost looks like someone turned a free float tube into a light weight free float by drilling holes in the tube then painting or coating it with something like duracoat.  Send more pics when you're finished with it.
