A1 Flash hider - washer mandatory?

Is a washer of some sort mandatory with the A1 hider?
Do I NEED to torque it to 15-20 ft-lb with a washer? I do not have the lock washer. I only have the crush washer and a peel washer. I suppose I can use either, but my A1 fits w/o a washer. I just want to keep it simple.

The crush, peel and lock washers are all locking devices for the flash suppressor. With out one or the other I would think the flash suppressor would vibrate off with time.

Use either one, but use one of them.

also some muzzle devices dont thread all the way up to the shoulder and bottom out on the muzzle end which would also be remedied by using some sort of washer.

I forgot to order some AR-15 lock washers with my other orders so I went to the hardware store and picked up a few 1/2" stainless steel split lock washers. They're about the same OD as the A1 flash suppressor and are quite thick. Will this work?

Yeah, those washers are pretty complicated.
